Carillion Piling in joint venture with Carillion Civil Engineering secured a £8.6m contract for the exhibition centre in London’s Royal Victoria Dock.

Carillion Piling constructed 370 piles in Royal Victoria Dock. The function of these piles was to support a reinforced concrete deck which was to be constructed over water in the existing dock.

The project was for the design and construction of 370, 1200mm diameter bored cast-in-situ piles. Maximum pile depth was in the order of 50m. Concrete for the project was supplied from an on-site concrete mixing plant. Most of the piles were constructed from floating craft.
