Contiguous Wall - Bracknell
This development was for a commercial building that included a large single storey basement. The town centre site in Bracknell was bounded on three sides by roads and on the fourth side by a petrol filling station.
Carillion Piling designed and constructed a contiguous piled retaining wall. The piles acted as a cantilever to retain a height up to 4.5m. Pile sizes used were 600mm and 450mm diameter, depending upon the retained height required. Ground conditions consisted of dry cohesive (clay) material. To waterproof the structure, a reinforced concrete skin wall was cast against the piles.
